The week in Guatemala went so quickly! Between keeping up with the boys and the team, I didn't have much time to write and share pictures. If you want to see pictures of the team and hear about our projects, click HERE.
People kept asking how it felt to be back... I guess it felt a bit like I'd never left! I quickly fell back into knowing which streets in Antigua are stroller friendly and where to find what I need at Bodegona. When we first arrived in the city, I felt a bit of an ominous cloud hanging over and then quickly reminded myself that this trip would involve NO trips to PGN or immigration and then the anxiety was gone!
Maria, our nanny from last year, helped us out for the week and watched the boys while we did construction projects. Her granddaughter, Casey, helped, too. For those who want the Maria update- she's doing well- she hasn't had any luck finding work and her husband was out of work for awhile, but now has a job again. She was kind and a huge blessing as always. I still think she is a baby whisperer! She had Samuel taking 3 hours naps!
We ended up staying in the same neighborhood as before (we got to rent two houses for the team and only paid $15/person/night- cheaper than many of the hostels we looked at!!). This meant we got to see our former housekeeper, Virginia, and our landlord, Robin, who was in Antigua from the States. We also visited our precious friend, Melissa, who just had a tiny baby boy!
We were so thankful for the opportunity to return. Our group from church had a good time and we were blessed greatly by the work we were able to bless Mayra's school with. We pray that we are able to return again and to continue to partner with the school... as the Guatemalans would say "Si Dios quiere" (Lord willing!).
